hdremix

After waiting patiently for around 3 months now, European gamers will finally be able get their hands on a copy of Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix. The game will be available to download this Thursday (19th Feb) from the PSN. Sounds like some bad marketing to me though. Surely it’s not wise to release this a day before Street Fighter IV? Let’s wait and see. The game will cost £11.99 for UK customers and €14.99 for other parts of Europe. I for one, can’t wait!

Hideo Kojima to recieve Lifetime Achievement Reward at GDC

hideo

Hideo has done it again! It was announced that at this years Games Developers Conference (GDC), Hideo Kojima will be receiving the Life Time Achievement reward. This will be the second one that he will be getting, first one from the MTV Game Awards last year. No doubt he should be getting this again. The work he has put in to create amazing game series such as Metal Gear and Zone of the Enders should be enough reason why, although Metal Gear would of done it for me ;) .

Here is what the event director of GDC had to say:

For years, Hideo Kojima s contributions to game development have broken new ground and inspired the community to think about creating games in never-before-imagined ways.

From giving birth to the stealth action game genre to showing game makers how to interact with their players by breaking the fourth wall, Kojima s achievements make him an obvious choice for an award that in previous years has gone to luminaries including Sid Meier, Shigeru Miyamoto, Richard Garriott, Eugene Jarvis, Mark Cerny, Gunpei Yokoi, Yuji Naka and Will Wright.

Kojima will be giving his keynote lecture, “Solid Game Design: Making the ‘Impossible’ Possible” after the awards ceremony of the GDC, which will be on March 26.

One Dragon Three Drakes MANY Whelps!

sarth

Of course I am talking about Sartharion, a raid boss that introduces some interesting new mechanics to the WoW raid scene.

The obsidian sanctum is the first raid dungeon in WoW that allows players to increase the difficulty of the encounter for a greater rewards. Sartharion by himself is a simple tank ‘n’ spank encounter with some minor AoE and movement needed to succeed however the difficulty can be upped by adding drakes to the encounter and its when adding theses drakes that the fight takes on epic proportions that I can only compare to the Kil’Jaeden encounter at the end of Burning Crusade. The Ghost of Sparta’s 3rd coming (God of War 3)

So, the story started on Wednesday 11th, when some intrepid fellow released scans of God of War 3 from Game Informer. Of course, Game Informer quickly had them taken down, but not before a list of features were released onto the general internet.

Everyone thought that was the end of the story and that we’ll have to wait a ghoulishly long time for any more info, and then we were hit a few hours ago by a two-fer; a preview article at Kotaku and GameTrailers taking everyone by surprise with an apparently in-game HD trailer. We are just a couple of months into 2009 and once again the gaming goodness just keeps on coming. February and March sees some top games being released and we don’t want you to miss out on any of them, so each week we will be letting you folks out there know which gems to look out for when you visit your local games emporium on Friday. Quite a busy release schedule this week with lots on offer but below you will see the games we reckon you should give a go.

FEAR 2: Project Origin [360/PS3/PC] – Well it is Friday the 13th and this would be a nice companion to have on this “spooky” day. The sequel to the critically acclaimed and chilling FEAR, if you’re looking for some quality FPS action packed with a few scares then look no further than FEAR 2. We loved the demo and can’t wait to get our hands on the full game, we recommend you join us.

£27.99 [360]
£27.99 [PS3]
£24.99 [PC]

Race Pro [360] – SimBin (finally) bring us the realistic racer we having been waiting for. Boasting over 15 real life tracks and a wide variety of accurately modelled highly tuned cars, this is the game the wannabe Michael Schumacher’s have been waiting for. With a deep single player mode and online mutliplayer this should keep you going for a while.

House of the Dead: Overkill [Wii] – Every gamer knows House of the Dead but this is the game we all know and love with a twist, it’s gone all B-movie/retro on us. The action is gruesome and enemies are over the top, just the way a cheesy B-movie should be! The game also boasts a co-op mode so you can share the zombie action with a friend. As the tag line for the game suggests “they came for brains, you gave them bullets”, so buy the game and give them zombies some bullets…..in their brains!

Only in Japan…

Only in Japan can something like this take place, and it seem perfectly ordinary.

The police in Japan were trying to track down a criminal, and instead of spending money of an sketch artist or special software, they decided to draw up the characteristics on the Wii, as a Mii.

Now that’s using technology to your advantage!

So if you’re in the Kanagawa prefecture, south Japan, you may start seeing posters for criminals that have been created on the Wii!
