E3 2009: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker footage

by on June 2, 2009

Well we called it earlier on today, a Big Boss based PSP game from Kojima Productions is on the way! A few hours ago at the Sony conference, Kojima unveiled the game with the footage you can see below. Have a look at it and as usual read on for our impressions.

  • So did we mention we turned out to be correct?! OK, we’ll stop now. So Big Boss is back for another mission/adventure on the PSP but this time the game looks alot bigger and better. Kojima himself stated that his team will be taking full advantage of the PSP’s power and will hold back on nothing. The trailer certainly suggests he could be correct as we are shown some really nice environments and impressive character models.

The game will be set 10 years after the events of MGS 3 and will see Big Boss once again called in to save the day. From what we are shown in trailer, it seems like this mission has something to do with the creation of Outer Haven and Big Boss himself going all “rogue” on us. The trailer shows off all the usual MGS style stealth action gameplay but it also implies there could be some sort of multiplayer mechanic included within the game. Towards the end of the trailer, we are shown four Big Bosses all working together so unless there is some weird cloning going on we pretty much bet this game has some sort of multiplayer mode.

In closing, we are slightly disappointed this game is not actually coming to the PS3 instead but hey it looks decent and the PS3 will be getting Metal Gear Solid: Rising after all. 🙂

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is due out for the PSP in 2010.
