God of War Collection! Yay!

Some of you might remember a while back Sony put out a survey on the internet asking God of War fans what they would like to see in a special edition of God of War III; an overwhelming majority of people suggested HD versions of the previous two games. Lord behold, it seems like Sony actually paid attention to what the fans wanted as today they have announced that a God of War collection will be coming to the PS3. The collection will include the first two God of War games with remastered graphics in 720p and running at 60 frames per second. Not only that though, the collection will also be given trophy support!

At the moment this collection has only been announced for the PS3 users in America but if Sony have any sense they would announce it for Europe as soon as possible. Please Sony, do it!

It’s ok you can let out that joyous scream now. Done?! Great. Have a read of the full press release by clicking here.

Sony Fights Back Against Piracy With The PSPgo!

featureimage-psp-go-imagesSony have stated that the reasoning behind making the PSP-Go’s battery internal-only is to combat software piracy. Apparently they weren’t all too happy that the Pandora Battery made their beloved handheld easier to hack into and so have stated:

“You won’t be able to rip your games and play them on the [PSP-Go] system, the firmware precludes that,” Koller told PlayStation Insider. “There’s no external battery, so there’s a number of protections put into place on the system.”

Erm, excuse me Sony but does this mean I have to pay you more money to do something as simple as change a battery? Well yes, yes it does, well if your warranty has expired anyway. Even so you will still be without your handled for the 5 days or so it takes them to do the deed. I’m all for fighting piracy but personally this has always been an aspect of the PSP-GO i didn’t like, not that it will stop us here at GodisaGeek from acquiring one though. :P

PS3 Slim Could Be Slower Than The Original!

By no means is this a fact but i thought it was interesting nonetheless. A few Youtube videos have surfaced the other day where someone was kind enough to go through the effort of comparing the two. Now human error is always likely to occur in such as situation, were both consoles started at the exact same time? were the games installed to the HDD? etc but it still raises interesting questions either way. The first video is a standard start up test, where the slim was slightly slower at booting up than the original ( as seen in the video below).

New Dual Shock 3 Controllers Hit Stores

500x_newdsred

Well apparently we were all misinformed as although Sony stated the new colours for the dual shock 3 would be available for the Yanks in October it’s only August and they seem to have landed. Of course the Japanese have had these for God knows how long now but Sony seem to have taken the opportunity to slap their new PS3 logo on as much of their “new” products as possible. They seem to be in stock at Bestbuy and Gamestop at the moment but I’m sure many retailers will follow suit as soon as humanly possible. Currently there is a blue and red version so if you were feeling rather bored with your black dual shock 3 feel free to go pick one of these up.

Final Fantasy XIII Demo Walkthrough

If you’re like me you’ve probably been trying to get your hands on any RPG fix you can in wait for this epic game and so any new footage/information that comes around is like a mini blessing to you. So here is Motomu Toriyama walking us through a Japanese demo of the game. In it he talks about the combat system a little and also mentions that the English localization is just about complete and ready for input into the game and they will be going through the extra effort to re-sync the characters lip movement to match the English voice acting (how nice of them :D ). Personally I hope that they will leave the Japanese voice acting on the PS3 version at least, so I can switch between them at my leisure as I’ve never been too fond of the English voice acting that accompanied my RPG’s (might as well use that extra space for something, right?) but taking into account Square-Enixs’ track record this probably won’t happen. In the interview following this he does mention it could happen in the future but was dropped due to time constraints and wanting to have a smaller gap between the two release dates for the game (Japanese and European/US). There is also mention of the unveiling of a new character in Japan next month by the name of Sarah, whose name has been mentioned a few times in the earlier footage of the game but has never been seen. So have fun watching and let the waiting continue.

Just to get you in the mood for the upcoming Ballad of Gay Tony trailer, Rockstar Games have just released some tasty screenshots from the new GTA IV episode/DLC. One of the screenshots shows someone on top of a train as a police helicopter hovers by very closely; that somone is probably the character you will be playing as. Seems like someone at Rockstar has been playing some Infamous during their time off then eh?! ;)

Leaked Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Footage

You probably won’t be able to view this video for much longer after we post it as the “internet police” will almost certainly take the video down from YouTube, so make the most of it while you can! The footage you see below is from the much anticipated Modern Warfare 2 taken from a recent games event/exhibition. Now I’m not too sure if it is from the single player campaign or if it is one of the spec-ops missions, whatever it is (even from a shakey cam view) it looks fantastic.

It looks like it takes place somewhere in South America (Brazil, I think) and involves you chasing down a target through the streets/alleys of the city. The action is fast paced and frenetic; the crowd watching the gameplay certainly seemed to enjoy it! Now the footage is not that clear but I did manage to make out that something that said “press x to pick up w/shotgun”. Shotgun attachments for machine guns?! I wonder if this will just be included in the single player/spec-ops or if it will makes its way across to the multiplayer. Hmm, it certainly does sound like an interesting perk! Maybe this is the new perk that will be unveiled later on in the week. I guess we will have to wait and see. What do you guys think?

EDIT – It seems like the video above is from the single player campaign as the video below shows the spec-ops mode in co-op. Look rather awesome no?! :)

Funny New American PS3 Ads!

Now I think it is safe to say that nowadays most game related adverts (for consoles or standalone games) are not that great, they lack that certain creativity or imagination. You know, something that makes you stand up (not literally) and take notice. Sony used to be quite good at this back in the old PlayStation 1 days and now it seems like they are back on form with their new PS3 advertising campaigning which is soon to be launched in the United States. The Japanese “play face” adverts are decent but to tell to truth they are a bit too freaky for my liking! These American adverts are much better and certainly have that extra bit of imagination and creativity. Check them out and (as always) let us know what you think.
