£30 more for this, without the free arcade games. Awesome.

Several retailers have today confirmed that Microsoft are going to increase the price of the Arcade Xbox 360 bundle from £129.99 to £159.99 on September 1st. As if the £30 increase wasn’t enough the bundle will now no longer include the five free arcade games. Reports also suggest that the price of Xbox 360 accessories will be raised by one or two pounds. Apparently these increase in prices is down to the pound being weak compared to the Euro. Hmm where have we heard that excuse before?!

Interestingly enough the email which was recieved by retailers only mentioned the Aracde and Elite bundles. There was no news regarding the Premium Xbox 360 (the one with the 60GB hard drive) which adds strength to claims that the bundle will be discontinued.

  • Yeah I agree with you all. Rather than entice people into buying their products during the current economic climate they are pushing them away. The arcade bundle was £129.99 with the five free games which was fantastic value, now it will be £159.99 without the free games.

Saying that though I guess they can afford to do this without looking too bad to the general consumer. At £159.99 it is still cheaper than the Wii and the PS3 so while increasing the price is poor on Microsofts part it makes decent business sense.

    Where can I get that £84.99 Xbox 360 ;-)
  • It's too late. You can't find Xbox360 Arcade Consoles without bundle packages any more. Before the weekend you could grab one for £89.99 at Play.com or Game. Now they're £134.99 with some crappy game.
  • So now's the time to stock up on pads and buy that spare xbox360.

All jokes aside this is disgusting. Why is the UK always raped when it comes to currency exchanges between the US or Europe. Come off it...
  • What a load of BS!
