  • Am I the only person in the world that thinks this is disgracefully ugly for a Sony product? :S
  • I'm sure you're not - but I actually want one! lol

It's a shame they aren't cheaper. I'd just buy one and stick a sticker-skin over the ugly matted finish. I like the design and new size (it's now the size of a normal console?! :O) but the matt finish is a bit meh.

I think you're being a little harsh, Aaron. Sony have clearly spoilt us with the original PS3's design. I think the new model looks really nice. Thanks to the leaked images from months ago, I've been given a chance to appreciate the new look and I now think it's pretty nice. Asim will testify that I couldn't stand the design of the first PS3 iteration until I actually took one out of the box. It was love at first sight. I believe that once you get one in your hands, the new PS3 will melt your heart, too.
  • Lets hope so Elliott because currently I'm sorely disappointed with the current design but i guess Sony was trying to keep things as cheap as possible for the new lower price point. I've just come to expect more from them in terms of design. Although that being said the ps2 had a pretty ugly design too :P

I think that the new look is just missing a chrome trim. However, you are 100% on the money with the PS2. The original with the ridges and the hump for the HDD/network adaptor was hideous. We all bought it though. I remember swapping my PS2 for a PStwo the day the remake came out at GAME. I was elated by the fact that it would take up less space and was more aesthetically pleasing. Looking back, you can see that it wasn't that hard to beat.

I refuse to refer to this console as a PS3 Slim as we all know that it'll get slimmer still. I won't be replacing my behemoth any time soon. I think the new adopters are lucky that Sony didn't feel to cut costs further by removing the internal power block and doing away with wi-fi.

We are all blessed that Sony finally look like they will start the race.

    Game on!
