The Hardcore PC Gamer Prefers Windows 7 to Vista

by on February 10, 2010

Well according to Steam’s hardware survey for January 2010 Windows 7 has overtaken Vista as the hardcore PC gamers operating system of choice for the first time since its release in October 2009. This is reletively suprising considering it’s reletively short life span compared to Windows Vista that has been available since January 2007. Although if you look at the fact that many users (such as myself) completly skipped the Vista “era” and stuck with Windows XP for all their gaming needs for various reasons we won’t go into here then things start to make a little more sense.

So onwards to the statistics, according to the survey 28.53% of Steam users are reporting Windows 7 as their main operating system, while Vista users represent 27.91% of the platform’s userbase and the remainining 43.56% have chosen to stick with Windows XP. Not an amazing difference but again if you look at the short amount of time it has been available to the consumer and I’m sure you would agree Windows 7 got in thier quick and fast.
