Western Yakuza 3 Edited

by on February 24, 2010

Bad news for all you Japanophiles out there as SEGA have today announced that the western versions of the PS3 exclusive Yakuza 3 will be edited. That’s right folks, not all the content from the Japanese version will get to see the light of day here in the west.

SEGA felt that some of the content “wouldn’t make sense” to the majority of gamers based in America and Europe. This cut content will include such things as “socialising” at hostess clubs and a Japanese history quiz game. This isn’t a big deal though, well according to SEGA anyway:

“We didn’t replace the parts we took out, but we made absolutely sure that the story continuity stayed intact so that the story experience was the same as the Japanese version and that it didn’t take away the human drama so inherent to the Yakuza series.”

If you’re saddened by SEGA’s decision to exclude the hostess clubs then fear not as you will still be able to date females and visit strip clubs in the western version, all that content remains intact. Phew!
