Just a few minutes ago (courtesy of Edge Online) the first ever details regarding the highly anticipated Gears of War 3 have emerged on the magical place we call the internet. The game will be set during the summer and it will include both underwater and jungle based locations. As cool as that sounds, the latter piece of information isn’t a huge surprise seeing as it is something Epic showed off during their Unreal Engine 3 demo at GDC last month.
Gameplay wise, new additions will include a Locust enemy with tentacles which can reach cover spots and an explosive weapon which can be “sent” underground to take out enemy cover positions. Interesting, very interesting! As if that wasn’t enough, the game will also give Marcus and his buddies access to heavy duty mech suits to help them on their quest to rid the world of those pesky Locust folk. Maybe it is some weird tie-in with Lost Planet 2, after all Marcus and Dom are due to appear in the Capcom developed game.
We should get some official confirmation of all these details next week as Cliff Bleszinski (Epic design director) is due to reveal a new game (Gears of War 3, probably) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in the US on Monday. Let the Gears of War 3 hype begin!
