Studio Ghibli Game Coming To PS3 and DS

by on June 23, 2010

Last year, Level-5 – Developers of the hugely successful Professor Layton series of games and White Knight Chronicles – announced a partnership with Anime outfit, Studio Ghibli – most famous for Oscar-winning film Spirited Away. This would result in the Nintendo DS game – Ni no Kuni. The game received a lot of attention because of the heavy involvement of Ghibli artists and creators in the production – so the game seems to both look and play like an interactive anime movie.

Ni no Kuni looks stunning so far

Now Level-5 have announced the game will be getting an HD makeover and will also be released on PlayStation 3. This brings up an interesting point though – the DS version involves drawing on-screen with the stylus – does this suggest the game might be PlayStation Move compatible? Level-5 have a press conference planned for later this week, so we will wait until then to see what happens.

EDIT: More screenshots were released at the Level-5 press conference on Wednesday – showing thePS3 version of the game running in 3D, as opposed to the flat DS version.

The DS version was due in Spring 2010, but earlier this year, it was delayed to Autumn – the release date of the PS3 will be sometime in 2011
