Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel Named and Dated

Holy smokes, Batman! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced the release date for the sequel to their critically acclaimed Batman game and boy are we happy. Be warned though it’s a long wait as the game will be shipping August 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The GodisaGeek staff is more than willing to wait though if the sequel is anywhere near as good as its predecessor. On top of the release date Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios have stated the official title for the game will be Batman: Arkham City.

Here’s what Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment had to say regarding the game:

“Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.”

Is that Catwoman I spy with my little eye?

If this doesn't get you excited for the title, nothing will.

Lastly, to add the proverbial cherry on top US gaming magazine, Game Informer has some spectacular artwork on their front page this month that pretty much seals the deal for Catwoman making an appearance in the title. So there you have it, a healthy slice of Batman: Arkham City unveilings. We’ll see you next time though on GodisaGeek.com. Same bat time, same bat channel?!

I live, breathe, eat, sleep and drink GEEK! Been gaming since I was 4 years old and have made it my mission to own every gaming platform since I held my first NES controller. There isn't a genre I don't enjoy, if a game is even remotely good I'll be playing it. In my spare time (when I'm not gaming) I like to feed my anime, Japanese Culture and Gundam model kit addictions.

If we are going to get on there is two things you need to acknowledge - Hideo Kojima is a GOD and Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a master piece!

God truly is a GEEK!
