Alien Breed 3: Descent is Out Today on PlayStation Network

Alien Breed 3: DescentThough they will probably be forever known as “those guys who did Worms“, Team 17 are also responsible for Alien Breed, a series of top-down shooters which first raised its tentacles back in 1991. Following a thirteen-year haitus after Alien Breed 3D: II The Killing Grounds (catchy), the series was relaunched in 2009 with a trilogy, starting with Alien Breed Evolution.

Alien Breed 3: Descent is the final episode in this trilogy (the second being Alien Breed 2: Assault), and it promises to conclude the story of Theodore J. Conrad, Chief Engineer of the spacecraft Leopold. It arrives on the PlayStation Network today for the pretty reasonable price of £7.19.

Although the shooting is likely to be as squelchily entertaining as anything else Team 17 have put their name to, it is the game’s cinematic storyline that is the real draw. Consequently, they have released some tantalising concept art that focuses on the game’s design and production values.

There are also some screenshots and a spooky trailer that calls to mind other marooned space heroes (Ripley, Isaac Clarke etc), but that’s probably intentional.

Enjoy!
