by on February 28, 2011

If you are old enough to remember the original Speedball 2 then you have survived over two decades. Well done. It turns out that the game has survived as well. Tower Studios and Vivid Games are re-releasing The Bitmap Brother’s classic, Speedball 2, on the Apple App Store and iOS. Hang on to your knackers, guys.

Speedball 2 Evolution is available for play on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch systems for £2.39 and, according to John Hare, the game’s creative director and industry legend, Speedball 2 Evolution will retain the “intuitive, quick to learn brutal playability” of the original release but with added “teams and competitions, plus [a] multiplayer mode and ten season career mode”. The game includes a host of other tweaks including brand new visuals and alternate control systems for the iOS devices. There is also Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for multiplayer competitions. The game also retains its sense of humour and love of bloody violence. If that is your sort of thing.
