Total Body Dancing In The New DanceDanceRevolution

by on February 23, 2011

Konami have just announced that DanceDanceRevolution is going to get another run out, this time in the guise of Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 4 for the Nintendo Wii. The game is slated for release on the 29th of April and comes with a host of new features and innovations. The good folks at Konami have even seen fit to release a bundle of screen shots for your viewing pleasure.

In what promises to be a symphony of choreography (or catastrophic mess of limbs) DDR4 sees players using a combination of Wii Remote, Nunchuck and Dance mat to match their moves precisely with the on screen display. Konami claim that this brings “full-body movement” to the Wii dance game scene.

When DDR is released the game will be available with the dance mat or without, as players can use the Wii Balance Board instead of the iconic arrowed mat. The game will have twenty licensed tunes from the likes of Lady Gaga and Paramore and Konami’s in-house team will add a further thirty tracks to the mix.

It will be interesting to see how this approach to full body tracking will compare with what users can expect with Microsoft’s Kinect.
