Pre-Order Shadows Of The Damned To Receive Twelve Tracks From The Soundtrack

by on May 11, 2011

If you’re thinking about purchasing Grasshopper Manufacture’s upcoming horror game Shadows of the Damned, you now have the added incentive of a free sample of the soundtrack if you choose to pre-order. Everyone who pre-orders the game from GameStop, Amazon and the EA Store will receive a bonus digital download of twelve original songs by the game’s composer Akira Yamaoka.

As the sound director of Silent Hill, Yamaoka is responsible for the haunting sounds and ethereal effects that provide the backdrop for the psycho-punk action thriller. The digital download represents a sample of his handiwork.

Shadow of the Damned tells the story of demon hunter Garcia Hotspur (the first Hispanic horror video game protagonist, apparently) who seeks to rescue his beloved girlfriend Paula from a demented re-imagining of hell. In hell, Garcia has to fight various armies of darkness and solve mind-bending puzzles across an imaginative landscape of “psychotic imagery”, according to EA.

Given Shadow of the Damned’s strong aesthetic, it seems fitting that the composer has a record of creating music with a strong personality. The is reported to have been influenced by the recent Grindhouse Renaissance spearheaded by film directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez. The development team also includes executive director Suda51 (director of No More Heroes) and creative producer Shinji Mikami (director of Resident Evil).

The twelve tracks available to everyone who pre-orders the game from the listed sources are as follows:

1. Theme of Shadows of the Damned (featuring the English gothic punk band, The Damned)
2. Shedding Stars
3. Walk if Off
4. Last Stop, Windows Up
5. This Way Comes
6. Fathomer
7. Smile for a Broken Dawn
8. Showdown at High Moon
9. Cold Turkey
10. Broken Bones, Broken Promises
11. Dropped Off Between Stops
12. Clawing at the Veil
