Call Of Duty: Black Ops Breaks Records As More DLC Is Teased

by on June 29, 2011

Call of Duty: Black Ops may not have been the most critically successful Call of Duty title ever made, but new figures out today show that the game is definitely the most popular with the public. On top of that news, developers Treyarch have come out and hinted that there may well be future map packs released for the title. This comes straight from the mouth of Teryarch Design Director – David Vonderhaar. When questioned on the subject of whether the company would rest on their laurels with the three already-released map packs, Vonderhaar made the teasing statement that “I can’t talk to anything beyond ‘Annihilation’, but keep your eyes peeled…”

Official number-crunchers Gfk Charttrack have confirmed that Black Ops is now the biggest selling video game in the UK in history. After only being released in November 2010, the latest game in the series has overtaken the previous Activision record-holder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, to become the United Kingdom’s biggest selling game of all time. Sales figures up to June 25th have reached 3,722,411, with the previous benchmark being 3,702,410. Marketing Director of Activision UK, Andrew Brown, said: “This is an outstanding achievement for the development team at Treyarch and the amazing Call of Duty community.”

The Annihilation map pack is out now on Xbox LIVE, with PlayStation 3 and PC versions due later in July. You can hear the GodisaGeek.com thoughts on Black Ops by listening to our “BlopsCast” here.
