Portal 2 Has Sold 3 Million Copies Since Release Says Newell

by on June 22, 2011

Valve boss Gabe Newell has said that puzzle shooter Portal 2 has shifted over three million copies since launch. Newell was delivering a keynote at the Games for Change festival this Wednesday when he told the audience about the sales figures for Portal 2, though he didn’t state whether the figures were just on Steam or across all platforms.

By comparison, the first Portal managed to sell around four million copies, according to Joystiq. The four million figure didn’t account for Steam sales, as Valve rarely pass on such information.

With that in mind, sales figures could be much higher than three million for Portal 2, and deservedly so. The game was released in April this year to critical acclaim, even managing to score a more than impressive ten out of ten in our review.

If you are still undecided on whether to buy Portal 2, that review should help you change your mind, so give it a read. While you’re at it, check out these amazing Portal 2 cube tricks and fan made live action film. Both are truly epic.

Portal 2 is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac.
