FIFA 12 Will “Require You To Unlearn” The Way You Play FIFA, Says Lead Producer

by on July 18, 2011

FIFA 12’s Lead Producer, David Rutter, has said that people who are used to playing FIFA titles will have to “unlearn” the way that they have been playing the game in years gone by.

Rutter was speaking to GodisaGeek at a recent community event, where we went hands on with FIFA 12’s Career Mode. When we asked Rutter about the new Tactical Defending system in FIFA 12 , he said: “It’s not harder to defend, it’s different and if you try to defend in the way that you are used to, it’s not going to work.”

Amazingly, Rutter said that newcomers to the franchise found the game easier to play because of the Tactical Defending, and spoke about veterans needing a calibration time. “I think if you go and talk to someone who hasn’t played FIFA before, they find it a lot easier.” Said Rutter. “There is a calibration time, it will require you to unlearn what you’ve learnt for however many years it is that you have been playing FIFA but for more casual fans, people that haven’t played the game as much, they actually find it easier.” He continued.

What do you think about the new Tactical Defending system? Will you be happy to learn a new technique, or do you prefer the old one? Let us know in the comments below.
