Battlefield 3 Pre-Order Incentives Announced

by on August 4, 2011

EA are taking the release of Battlefield 3 quite seriously. Quite, actually, is somewhat of an understatement; EA seem to think that the release of Battlefield 3 is as serious as the threat of a nuclear war starting the day after the stock market collapsed and aliens invaded.

Today, EA are announcing two retail editions of Battlefield 3 available in UK and are describing the news as an intensification of the “heat of the battle”.  Between who is anyone’s guess ….

The two UK editions of Battlefield 3 are going to be called Standard Edition and Limited Edition. So at least we are off to an exciting start.

The Limited Edition is guaranteed to anyone who pre-orders Battlefield 3 and will include the Back to Karkand post-launch digital expansion pack at no extra charge. This pack includes maps that were available in Battlefield 2, including Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman and the Sharqi Peninsula. All these maps will be re-created the Frostbite 2 engine. This expansion will cost a whopping £11.99 when purchased separately, so either the Limited Edition presents great value or that is a seriously expensive expansion pack.

Play.com, Amazon.co.uk and Game will also be offering special pre-order bonuses. Play.com has the Dog Tag Pack, giving players access to five unique dog tags that will be shown on screen when the player makes a kill, Amazon has the SPECACT Kit, a set of unique multiplayer skins and Game has the Physical Warfare Pack which includes three exclusive weapons.

Game’s pre-order bundle is the most interesting, as the weapons given are only available exclusively for a limited time in-game, and will later become available to all players.

So lots to choose from when pre-ordering Battlefield 3 … let battle commence.
