GAME Will Sell PSN Digital Titles In Store

by on August 15, 2011

GAME have announced that they will be selling PSN digital content in store starting from today, beginning with first-party releases like the God of War Collection, MAG and the Killzone Steel Rain Map Pack and then extending into 3rd part content. The decision has been made for this to take place in 42 GAME and Gamestation stores around the UK with the final goal being all 620 stores in the future.

“This is a significant step forward in our digital strategy. For the first time, gamers will be able to browse a wide range of digital titles for the PlayStation Network in our stores, alongside a variety of other digital and physical products,” said Ian Shepherd, GAME CEO.

“The partnership reflects the close and long standing relationship between GAME and SCEE across Europe as both companies move rapidly to innovate and bring new products and services to customers.”

GAME told Eurogamer that “Every product is individually displayed and marketed with a specific price point.” Consumers will more than likely be issued a 12 digit code that they will need to redeem on PSN the same way you would top up your Xbox Live subscription. Keeping you safe from any server cock-ups PSN might encounter in the future.

On the other hand those expecting physical copies of some of these amazing titles might find themselves a little disappointed. Making us wonder what advantage consumers will get for purchasing their downloadable content in this manner. We can only hope that pricing will be competetive.
