Recording yourself playing a game is all the rage these days, and when it comes to doing that (in HD no less) there’s really none finer than Hauppauge. The HD PVR is a fantastic model, but this new model, aimed directly at gamers looks to be something a bit special.

Announced at Gamescom this year, the HD PVR Gaming Edition is a complete kit for gamers who want to record HD footage from an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

The best HD game recorder gets better!
HD PVR set the standard in satellite and cable TV high definition video recording. Now, HD PVR has a special version just for gamers: the HD PVR Gaming Edition. With a universal high definition component video cable set, Xbox® 360 or Sony PlayStation®3 gamers can record their best game play in beautiful HD!

The HD PVR Gaming Edition will be available at the end of August 2011, with a suggested retail price of £199.

HD PVR Gaming Edition includes software which allows game play to be recorded in HD and then uploaded to YouTube, so the game play can be shared with friends. HD PVR Gaming Edition includes a pro-quality high definition video encoder plus support for multi-channel digital audio. All recordings are done in H.264, which is the video format used to make HD Blu-ray discs.

The HD connections to game consoles are made via component cables, also referred to as ‘YPrPb’ or red/blue/green connectors. HD PVR Gaming Edition includes “video pass through”, so game play can be recorded with no video delay while the game is played on an HD monitor. HD PVR Gaming Edition includes a component video cable which can bring HD video from an Xbox 360 or PS3 into the HD PVR. HD PVR Gaming Edition also includes HD component video cables to connect to an HD monitor.

Hauppauge will demonstrate HD PVR Gaming Edition in Hall 6 at the booth C-11 from MediaXP. A press conference together with MediaXP, the publisher of IGN (DE-Edition), GamingXP, MobileXP and other print- and online-formats will be hold under the headline “eSports meets Social Media” on the 19th of August 2011 at 11am in Rheinsaal Sektion 1 Congress-Centrum Nord. At this press conference Hauppauge will introduce their new HD Game Recorder, with special YouTube upload integration!
