Deep Silver Expects to Ship 2 Million Copies of Dead Island by the End of the Week

by on September 15, 2011

Dead Island publisher Deep Silver expects to have shipped two million copies of its zombie action title by the end of the week. The news comes after Dead Island has hit the number one spot for week 36 in Spain, France, Austria and UK for all formats, while being top of PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC charts in several other nations. Dead Island also topped charts in North America, as well as the global chart on Steam.

Despite a far from smooth launch, Dead Island is certainly doing the business in the charts, and the marketing, which included the now famous announcement trailer, has gone a long way to helping Deep Silver and developer Techland get there.

“Our new IP Dead Island has already proven to be a huge success on a global scale for Deep Silver only one week after its release in North America,” said Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media. “With Dead Island a number 1 in several important retail territories, this success has also confirmed our standing as a global publisher and has once again proven our position as Europe’s No. 1 retail distributor.”

We are currently working on our review for Dead Island, and will have it to you guys early next week. That said, feel free to tell us how you feel about the game in the comments below.

Dead Island is out now for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
