The wait for one of the most anticipated titles of the year is nearly over (in fact it is mere hours away) as Gears of War 3, the fastest pre-ordered Xbox 360 exclusive due to it’s 1.3 million pre-ordered copies, will be available to buy! Yes, at one minute past midnight over 20,000 stores across the world will be opening their doors and hordes of fans will be climbing over each other to get a copy. Out of these 20, 000 stores, 400 of them will be in the UK with the grand opening being held at GAME in Oxford Street, London. However earlier today and to celebrate the release, you may of had a little surprise at the Marble Arch, as a caged Locust was sat underneath for all to see!

At one minute past midnight (Tuesday 20th) more than 20,000 stores around the world, and over 400 in the UK including a marquee event to be held at GAME Oxford Street later tonight, will open their doors to a flood of fans desperate to get their hands on ‘Gears of War 3’ which completes the blockbuster Xbox 360 franchise. As one of the most anticipated games of 2011, more than 1.3 million copies have been pre-sold to date worldwide, making the title the fastest pre-ordered exclusive game in the history of the console.

Gamers are desperate to find out how the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad is resolved, with a thrilling narrative crafted by Karen Traviss, a New York Times best-selling novelist from the UK. The CGI sequences have production values akin to a Hollywood blockbuster and set to have players on the edge of their seats as the climatic end to the story approaches. Groundbreaking co-operative and multiplayer play in ‘Gears of War 3’ is another reason for the games’ cult status as players connecting online around the world are encouraged to work as a team.

At Marble Arch this morning commuters were greeted by a unique installation stunt where an enemy character from the game, called the Locust, appeared captured in a cage shaking and rattling as it attempts to break free. The animatronic Locust featured menacing sound effects and lights. Fans were also able to meet Carlos Ferro who voices Dominic Santiago of Delta Squad.

If you are excited as we are then you should be waiting in line at your nearest retailer now! In the meantime here are the pictures of the publicity stunt at the Marble Arch!
