Gears of War 3 Worldwide Launch is a Hit, DLC Inbound Says Cliff Blezsinski

The midnight launch for Gears of War 3, which took place in over 20,000 stores around the world, saw over 500 dedicated gamers wait patiently at GAME’s flagship store in London’s Oxford Circus. The fans were greeted with an appearance by the voice of Dom, Carlos Ferro, as they bought the game.

“Yesterdays launch of Gears of War 3 kicked off the biggest season of blockbuster games in the history of Xbox 360,” said Microsoft Corporate Vice President Phil Spencer. “The team at Epic Games has raised the bar yet again and we’re extremely excited to see fans around the world get their hands on the game and jump into the action.”

Cliff Bleszinski added to the comments from Spencer. “This is our biggest ‘Gears’ game yet, and even though it’s the third installment in the trilogy, it’s the easiest to jump into if you’re a new fan,” said Blezsinski “We’ve added more co-operative gameplay options and built in accessibility features throughout the game to make it approachable and fun for new players and series veterans alike.”

That’s not all that our friend Cliff has been saying though. In an interview with The Telegraph, he has confirmed that there will be story DLC, but added that this won’t feature your favourite members of Delta Squad.

“We have some DLC that’s coming up,” He told the Telegraph. “We’ve confirmed we’ll be doing campaign DLC. One thing I can tell you is that you’re not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in it. I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like Lost and the Damned, Gay Tony, Mad Moxie’s Underdome Riot. All those kind of things. DLC’s the place where you play and have fun. So that’s one thing that’s an indication of where things may be going in the future.”

Microsoft recently announced a Season Pass scheme for Gears of War 3, which gives a discount for those that choose to cough up 2400 Microsoft Points in one hit.

So, there you have it, there will be DLC, but it will be a totally unique spin off. What do you think it should be?
