Round-Up of Assassin’s Creed III Details So Far

Round-Up of Assassin's Creed III Details So FarThere has been specualtion for quite some time about where the setting would be for Assassin’s Creed III. After Ubisoft let us know that Revelations would be the last title that featured Ezio and Altair – and therefore Italy and the Holy Land – fans have been trying to guess where in the world the series will travel to next.

After an image was leaked yesterday, Ubisoft acted swiftly to release their official box art for the title, which shows us that we will play as an all-new Assassin – ones that appears to be living in 18th-Century America. As indicated by the Continental American flag in the background, the setting would likely be around 1777-1778, during the American War of Independence with the British Redcoats. In fact, the box art actually depicts our new Assassin leaping on and attacking a Redcoat soldier.

The protagonist also appears to be kitted out with some interesting new weaponry and some fancy duds. He carries a flintlock style pistol, but more importantly he also sports a Tomahawk-style axe and a feather-adorned bow. These weapons, coupled with the Eagle-decortated clothing that he is wearing, seem to suggest that we will be taking control of a Native American, rather than one of the Revolutionaries. This opens up the potential for paying for both sides in the game – although Native Americans were actually affiliated with the British at the time.

On top of the box art reveal, GameInformer posted their exclusive new cover for next month – which will feature a feature on the new game – which shows us the character in more detail, as well as a General on the rear cover who looks a lot like George Washington. The series has been famous for incorporating real historical figures, so it would be fitting to meet with the Founding Father in Assassin’s Creed III.

The Assassin’s Creed website has also been taken over and replaced with a countdown timer, and Ubisoft confirmed in a press release that some new information regarding the third game will be revealed on March 5th. We can look forward to that, to find out even more about this exciting game. for now, enjoy the images below, all of which should whet your appetite for the retail release of the game in the Autumn.
