EA Reveal First Crysis 3 Details

by on April 16, 2012

EA-Reveal-First-Crysis-3-DetailsAfter box art leaked late last week it’s fair to say no one was shocked to learn Crysis 3 is coming. However the first official details released by EA certainly provide a few surprises.

First of all the game returns to New York City, but things have drastically changed. The city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation, called the Liberty Dome it has turned NYC into an urban rainforest complete with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. The dome has become split into seven distinct environments known as the Seven Wonders, each requiring special tactics and weapons in order to make it through alive.

Prophet returns on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives, turning from hunted to hunter no one is safe be it alien Ceph or human enemies.

The most eye catching detail though is in how the game is described, Crytek call Crysis 3 a sandbox shooter experience. This seems to point towards the game returning to its series roots, instead of the more focused tight levels seen in Crysis 2.

Despite the game being scheduled for spring 2013, EA have wasted no time in announcing special retailer exclusive pre-order bonuses.

The following bonuses have been announced, although no details have been given on which retailers will carry them:

  • Stalker Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content as well as early multiplayer access to the deadly semi-auto Jackal shotgun, a custom weapon skin and two exclusive in-game dog tags.
  • Overkill Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content as well as early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon. skin and two exclusive in-game dog tags.
  • Predator Pack – Includes the base game, all the Hunter Edition content as well as early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive camo.

That’s about it, with a year until release I’m sure we’ll see plenty more of Crysis 3 in the coming months, starting at E3 this June. Are you excited for the game, what do you want Crytek to change from Crysis 2?
