It has been widely speculated and almost universally expected that Nintendo would price and date the Wii U at E3, it seems though this will not be happening.
Satoru Iwata confirmed today while speaking at an investor’s briefing that Nintendo have no plans to announce pricing or more surprisingly release dates at this years E3. In more positive news Iwata did promise that the Wii U will still launch worldwide before the end of 2012.
“We will showcase the final format, and discuss the details and the software line-up for this year at E3 2012, which will be held in Los Angeles in the United States in June this year,” said Iwata. “Please also be advised that, as we did for previous platforms that were launched in the year-end sales season, we will announce the launch date and price in each market sometime after E3.”
So still plenty to look forward to from Nintendo this E3, and if industry rumours are to be believed the Wii U launch lineup is looking pretty good already.
