Inside Xbox is No More

Xbox 360 users will have become familiar with Inside Xbox over the years, but today Microsoft has announced it is no more.

Inside Xbox evolved from humble begins back when the 360 launched in 2005, to a worldwide production keeping Xbox gamers up to date with the latest news. Sadly with the addition of numerous video apps, it seems Microsoft no longer see the need to produce content themselves, instead they’ll be leaving it to third-parties from now on.

Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson had this to say:

They (Microsoft) have decided to move away from the current first-party produced content model and transition to a third-party content model, which will provide timely and locally-relevant content to users across more of the EMEA markets.

“Whilst this means that the Inside Xbox brand will effectively be retired in Europe, the focus remains on continuing to provide the Xbox Live community with the latest and best in games and entertainment news and information.

Dan Maher UK Editor of Inside Xbox had this to say via Twitter:

“So, to be clear and succinct: Inside Xbox is no more, as are our jobs. Your support during the last four years has meant the world to us.”

In all honestly it’s very hard to see why Microsoft came to this decision, maybe they have something new lined up to reveal at E3. For now though, thank you to everyone at Inside Xbox for the brilliant content you provided over the years.
