PopCap Look To Break World Record As They Support charity: waterThe wonderful folks at PopCap are looking to break a world record. In conjunction with their latest game, Solitaire Blitz, they are going to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Video Games Marathon Playing a Card Game. They are also raising money for the non profit organisation; charity: water. Charity: water brings safe and clean drinking water to people in developing nations

Between the 26th and the 27th June, two of the best Solitaire Blitz players in the world will attempt to play the game for 30 consecutive hours. Laura Rich and Kathleen Hinkel will raise £6,500 each if they last the marathon session. Laura Rich, who is from Cardiff,  will be starting her attempt at 2:00pm on Tuesday, the 26th. People will be able to watch the magic happen at Sea Life London Aquarium between 10am and 6pm. Simultaneously, Kathleen Henkel, from Oakland, New Jersey, will be partaking in the world record breaking attempt at an art gallery in the Roger Smith Hotel in Manhattan. The general public will be able to watch Henkel’s game at any time as she’ll be surrounded by windows!

PopCap will be pledging £108 per hour per player (£3,211 each for Henkel and Rich if they both reach their targets). PopCap have also set up a way for anyone else to pledge to the excellent cause. If you head on over to the Solitaire Blitz app on Facebook,  you can make a contribution based on the number of consecutive hourse that one, or both of the players play out of the 30. Pledges as low of 6p per hour, or one off contributions of £1.80 can be made. It’s all appreciated by PopCap and charity: water.

Good luck to Laura Rich and Kathleen Henkel, PopCap, and charity: water in this record breaking attempt!
