Limit Break Trailer Shows New Party-Based Battle System for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm RebornAfter the critical mauling that savaged Final Fantasy XIV upon its PC release in 2010, Square-Enix wisely delayed the proposed PS3 port before “reshuffling” the developmfmt team and building a whole new graphics engine.

Now heading to Sony’s console (and back to PC) early next year, and renamed Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, the revamped MMORPG will need to pull something pretty awesome out of its hat to win back the legions of disillusioned fans who were sorely disappointed by the original.

Set on the world of Eorzea, the radical changes to the environment and game areas will be explained by a meteor known as Dalamud crashing into the planet. The updated version will feature new areas, new equipment, new races and quests, and completely re-drawn field maps – as well as a more-accessible UI.

These new screenshots show off the vastly improved gameworld and graphical style that Square-Enix are hoping will appease the masses.
