Rocksteady’s version of The Bat came along when games based on comic book characters were, let’s call a spade a spade, crap. Yes, throughout history, there’s been Spider-Man 2 and others that have bucked the trend, but the Arkham series made everyone take notice with the astounding Arkham Asylum in 2009.
The very well received sequel Batman: Arkham City, was just as heralded as the first one, which is why American’s saw the release of a GOTY edition some months back and now its hitting EU shelves. On top of the original game, all of the DLC that was released is packed in – the Catwoman Pack (which was included in new copies of the original game), Nightwing Bundle Pack, Robin Bundle Pack, Challenge Map Pack and Arkham City Skins Pack. On top of all that, the recent Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC is also included.
Batman: Arkham Asylum was revolutionary in many ways. It made the comic book game get noticed again and created a melee system that’s now being used in countless other titles. Arkham City built upon that success, some would argue the spark wasn’t quite there like it was in AA, but it can’t be denied that it’s still a terrific game.
Also, Mark Hamill kills it in this. Even more so than Arkham Asylum.
Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition is available now for Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
