New Anime and Sports Apps Now on Xbox LIVEMicrosoft want the Xbox 360 to be your only port of call when it comes to digital entertainment, so they are continually working on adding new apps and services to Xbox LIVE, in order to attract both new and existing users to spend more time online. The latest two apps to hit the Xbox LIVE Marketplace are Crunchyroll and Sports Picks.

With Crunchyroll, gamers can get access to watch a selection of Anime series and Asian drama titles including the likes of; Bleach, Naruto Shippuden, Hunter x Hunter, Sword Art Online, Coffee Prince and Boys Over Flowers. All of these series will be presented in full High Defintion picture and sound via Crunchyroll, and will stream instantly. Their library has access to over 20,000 episodes of professionally subtitled Anime, Korean drama, and live-action titles, with the app also taking advantage of the Kinect voice and gesture control.

Fans of Sports will be able to boot up Sports Picks and compete with fellow sports enthusiasts over Xbox LIVE. The app will allow players to make predictions on sporting results and go up against friends and foes in online leaderboards, where you fight to get the best record of successful picks. The app is also Smartglass compatible, so you don’t even have to boot up your Xbox 360 to play – you can keep up with the scores on your Tablet or Smartphone.

As a bonus extra, Xbox 360 users will also be able to get access to an exclusive screening of the movie Minecraft: The Story of Mojang – which will air on Xbox LIVE for free this coming Saturday 22 December in the UK. A whole range of around forty new apps are planned for release in 2013, including one for music web service Napster and your local supermarket, Sainsbury’s. Xbox continues to grow and add a wider variety of experiences to its Xbox LIVE service.

Crunchyroll and Sports Picks are available on Xbox LIVE now.
