GAME Mentions Multiplayer in Tomb Raider Listing

GAME Mentions Multiplayer in Tomb Raider ListingORIGINAL: UK games retailer GAME detailed a multiplayer mode in the upcoming Lara Croft reboot, but it has since been removed from their product listing, AllGamesBeta reported.

Along with various things that everyone is already aware of, the listing now notes some of the game’s E3 awards, instead of what it initially said;

Survive as a Team: Play a variety of multiplayer modes as Lara’s Shipmates or Yamatai’s Scavengers.

As history has taught us, when a retailer lists a game early, or mentions an unannounced mode, it regularly turns out to be true. Square Enix is yet to confirm any such mode in next year’s Tomb Raider, but GAME’s outline of the multiplayer in the game seems awfully specific.

UPDATE: It turns out that GAME’s listing of multiplayer in Tomb Raider is statement of fact. Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Manager Karl Stewart, took to Twitter to confirm suspicions;

“OK, so after all the speculation..yes it’s true. http://www.oxmonline.com/our-next-issue-tomb-raider-gets-multiplayer … Check out @OXM for all the info on @tombraider’s new multiplayer”

Another case of the online retailer prematurely revealing a big component of a future game.

Tomb Raider will be released on March 5 2013 for Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
