System of a Down Vocalist is Composing Bungie Founder's Morning StarD’ya remember when you were in school and you had so much angst inside you that songs like System of a Down’s Sugar was your only way of “unleashing your inner fury”?…just me then. Well, System’s frontman Serj Tankian has announced on his website that he is behind the score for upsoming iOS title; Morning Star.

Alex Seropian (Bungie founder) Tim Harris (Seven Lights founder) and Brent Pease (Bungie San Jose) set up their own studio called Industrial Toys in order to produce mobile games that are focused for the core market. With this space shooter, the studio is keen to bring a quality experience to the player and a big score is a part of that as Seropian claimed the team were fans of the metal singer for quite some time.

“The opportunity to collaborate with him on Morning Star gave us a way to take the game to a whole new level. We knew his score would be unique, but it’s his ability to interpret a scene or gameplay element and come up with something that makes it moodier, more dramatic or just more awesome that’s really got us pumped.”

Tankian, whose only other video game music credit comes from 2007’s Stranglehold, also seems pretty happy with the challenge.

“I’m really enjoying working on Morning Star because it gives me the ability to create new musical worlds to complement the new visual worlds in the game. Though most of the gameplay will be action-oriented cues, the stunning artwork and static scenes have inspired unique sounds unheard before.”

Morning Star will be released in Spring 2013 for iOS
