by on January 10, 2013

Gran Turismo's GT Academy Getting ITV4 Reality TV ShowGT Academy has become an annual event where the best Gran Turismo players battle against one another, in order to win the grand prize of becoming an actual racing driver.

830,000 Gran Turismo players from 14 different countries have been whittled down to six and that six have the opportunity to race in 2013′s Dubai International 24 Hour event, if they succeed at GT Academy. The PlayStation and Nissan partnered competition normally flies under the radar of many gamers, but this year will be different.

The pillar of television ITV4 (when all you need is repeats of Cheers and Minder, why go else where?) will be airing a 6 episode series which will show the contestants  “in a gruelling set of driving, physical and mental challenges designed to measure what it takes to become a modern day professional racing driver”, we’ve learned via OPM. The show begins on Monday, February 4 at 8pm and the cherry on this cake is that Craig Doyle is presenting.
