Is a New Movie Service Coming to PS3 and Vita?
You may not have heard as much about it as Netflix or LoveFILM, but EPIX is a new movie channel that is described as “the big new movie channel that’s more than just a big new movie channel”. To you and I that means it is a streaming movie app that is going to be available for PS3 and PS Vita in the first quarter of 2013 and Spring, respectively, and which includes content from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM, according to IGN.
It will offer on-demand movies and shows but only if you are already subscribed to EPIX via your television provider (a bit like how Sky Go operates), which means it is limited to US customers for the time being.
