Telltale Sells Over 8 Million ‘The Walking Dead’ Episodes
The Walking Dead has come a long way since the humble comic book tales of post zomboid-apocalypse adventure. Telly shows naturally followed, as have the video games, which have been a tremendous success both commercially and critically. Telltale Games sell the game in “episodes” — five in all — for multiple gaming platforms: the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and the iPhone/iPad, where it’s especially resonating with swipe and touch-based mechanics.
Which is why it doesn’t surprise me to hear that since launching in April, Telltale have now sold over 8.5m of their episodes, for a tidy amount of cash; $40m+ to be exact.
About a quarter of those sales are happening on the iPhone and iPad, underscoring how important mobile devices are becoming in the eyes of game publishers.
