The Aliens: Colonial Marines Demo Footage Looked Better than the Final Game

Aliens-Colonial-Marines-Demo-FootageThis is truly a bizarre thing, but the early footage of recently released Aliens: Colonial Marines looked (much) better than the state of the final game.

Matt Lees and Steve Burns over at VideoGamer have put together a tremendous video showcasing the differences, and we think you’ll be pretty shocked. Some of the changes to the textures alone are beyond baffling, and the lighting effects are also strangely different. The question Matt and Steve pose is simple: What the hell happened to this game? Whilst the video doesn’t answer that question, it does make for a great watch.

So watch it you must! Then let us know what you think. Have you played Colonial Marines yet?

Aliens: Colonial Marines is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. A Wii U version will be released at later date.

    Played it? No. Reason: godisageek.com.
I’ve been burned way too many times, to commit to a game via pre-order. I can wait now, especially if I can’t demo it, or see gameplay done by someone other than a PR rep. A trusted game/entertainment news site (this one) and, believe it or not, gamefaqs are my sources. There’s nothing like getting input from an objective source, then sifting through the fanboys and trolls to get an all-around idea of what to expect from a game.

Something I have to get off my chest though. Why is it when a game is sh*t, and Gearbox is attached to it, does it come out that they didn’t actually develop it… despite what every marketing press junket says (prior to release)?

Duke Nukem – was almost done when Gearbox got ahold of it… it’s not their fault.
Aliens:CM – Someone else developed it, Gearbox outsourced it

Are they so sensitive of the image, that Borderlands built, that they won’t own up to their mistakes?

According to this, Timegate had everything to do with the demo and then in 2012 Gearbox took over and then released the game.
