Diablo III Coming to PS3 and PS4, First Screenshots Revealed

by on February 22, 2013

Blizzard have announced that they will be releasing an optimised console port of Diablo III for both the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.

This console version of Diablo III will boast a completely redesigned user interface specifically tooled for playing the game with a controller, including the addition of a dodge button. Other ‘improvements’ include a new dynamic camera perspective.

The game’s content will be up to par with the latest PC build which includes numerous improvements. From the game extending Paragon leveling system, to PvP Brawls.

Perhaps the best feature of all is the ability to play four player co-op locally on the same sofa, as well as online.

Diablo III looks and plays great on the PlayStation,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We put a lot of care and thought into the PlayStation version to make sure it would deliver an authentic Diablo gaming experience, and we’re really pleased with the results.”

A console version of the 12-million selling PC mega-smash, which GiaG scored a healthy 9 on its release, has been rumoured since before the game’s release in March last year, as can be seen here on Eurogamer, but even so the announcement came as a surprise.

Of equal interest was John Hight’s appearance on Gametrailer’s Sony Conference Aftershow, where he let slip that the game might just make its way to other consoles. When pressed on the matter Hight simply said that this was Sony’s day and that future console announcements, if indeed there are any, would come further down the road. Commence contemplative beard scratching.

The first three screenshots of the PlayStation version have also been released by Blizzard, and you can see them below:
