Mirror of Fate May See a HD Release on Consoles

Castlevania-Mirror-of-Fate-HDIt’s an exciting time to be a Castlevania fan. The sequel to the banging Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is coming to consoles in the future, along with the 3DS exclusive Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate.

In an interview with CVG, Konami UK’s Dave Cox said that they would be up for a home console re-release of the game, in glorious HD. In fact, the game was developed in HD and scaled back for its 3DS arrival.

“We created everything in high definition – all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything – and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS. Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere.”

Cox went on to say that they currently have an exclusivity deal with Nintendo, but they’re keen to get this game out to as many consumers as possible, hence why he said they would “absolutely” consider a HD release. I don’t think Castlevania fans would oppose.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will be released on March 8 in Europe and March 5 in North America for Nintendo 3DS
