New-Pokemon-to-Feature-Probably-Worryingly-Compulsive-Skylanders-esque-FiguresAs if Pokemon wasn’t awesome enough, according to a leaked CoroCoro Comic Magazine scan from Japan – which we saw thanks to Kotaku, the forthcoming downloadable Wii U title Pokemon Scramble U is set to follow the lead of the wildly successful Skylanders titles, harnessing the Wii U Game Pad’s NFC reader to interact with Pokemon figurines.

From April 24, Japanese gamers will once again embark on the crack cocaine-like quest to catch ’em all – this time in the form of probably awesome little Poke-figures, which will go on sale at Pokemon Center retailers priced at Y200 each (about a quid in our money, or a couple of bucks Stateside). the game itself goes on sale for Y1800, which works out at around $18. It is not clear how much it will be when it reaches our fair isles.

Apparently there will be six different types of figure, with one “special type”, all of which you will be able to scan into the Gamepad for use in the game.
