Dead or Alive Ultimate 5 Announced for PS3 and Xbox 360

by on May 8, 2013

Team Ninja’s Dead or Alive teaser trailer, spotted last Tuesday, has blossomed into a full retail release – Dead or Alive Ultimate 5.

Reported by Siliconera, who spotted the story in Famitsu, the game is dubbed a ‘super’ version of actually-pretty-good scrapper Dead or Alive 5 that introduces new characters including lady in red Momiji, who last appeared in Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor’s Edge.

Two things, mind. One: Is there no planned DLC release for this? Team Ninja have said they don’t do character related DLC – it ‘breaks the game’ – so presumably this will be retail only.

Two, with new characters and presumably other additions, does this mean that Dead or Alive Ultimate 5 will not be eligible for Cross Play with the Vita version, Dead or Alive 5 Plus? A hideous oversight if true, considering that game was only recently released.

More details will presumably surface soon and while Dead or Alive 5 is certainly a grand fighter, this shows a painful lack of modern foresight on Team Ninja’s part if it really is just an old-school retail update.

Dead or Alive Ultimate 5 will be released sometime in the future on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
