Fight Night Series on Hiatus While the Team Works on EA Sports UFC

Boxing purists may not be a fan of this news, but in combat sports, MMA is king at the minute and this is reflective of that.

In an interview with IGN, head of EA Sports Andrew Wilson said that the Fight Night series will be put on hiatus while the team work on EA Sports UFC:

“Right now, a great portion of the core of the Fight Night team are actually the team that are building UFC,

They’re understanding of the art of fighting games was cited as a reason why they’re “focused on UFC right now.”

When Wilson was asked whether the boxing franchise would return, he said:

“Do I see a future for Fight Night? You know, sure. But right now, UFC is where our fighting focus is.”

It’s true. Boxing pay-per-view numbers are still decent for the big names, but UFC’s audience is rabid and lapping up their monthly PPVs, FOX specials and anything else that Dana White’s company puts on television. It all makes sense.
