Microsoft Will Continue to Support Xbox 360 for the Next Five Years

by on May 26, 2013

Just because Xbox One was recently announced, Microsoft will still have one eye fixed on its current generation hardware for a little while, yet.

Microsoft’s senior vice president of Interactive Entertainment Business Yusuf Mehdi has told OXM that the company will continue to support the 360, long after the arrival of the Xbone.

“We believe over the next five years we can break a 100 million unit installed base. That’s something we’re shooting for, it’s not a financial plan as such, it’s just rough numbers if you will. To sell another 25 million, half of those will probably come from replacements, but half will come from new buyers…So you’ll see the Xbox 360 continue to exist, even as we launch the next generation Xbox One.”

That’s approximately 25 million in Xbox 360 sales in the next five years. No mean feat, but they have promised that their E3 showcase will be chock full of video games and will also include some Xbox 360 news, as well as the obvious Xbox One talk.
