Sonic The Hedgehog To Get Awesome 3D Makeover

by on May 8, 2013

In news that will be sure to excite our own Colm Ahern, 3D Sonic The Hedgehog has just been announced as a Japanese eShop download. Whether it will reach these shores is anyone’s guess, but by goodness it sounds worth owning.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog is a port with some killer modern tweaks. You can spin dash just like in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and there are save states. Want to play the original game? There’s an option to turn spin dashes off and remap the buttons. Sonic aficionados can switch between the Japanese release and International version to see minor differences when it comes to bonuses. You can even choose the sound emulation based on the Sega Genesis or the Sega Genesis Mk 2. There are faux-CRT display options, and the choice of 3D being employed to zoom in on the action or create a sense of depth.

Let us pray that this Y600 bad-boy gets the Western treatment soon.
