No Star Wars Game From EA Until At Least April 2014

by on May 8, 2013

Continuing on from the news that EA won’t be releasing either a Tiger Woods or UFC game in this fiscal year (April 1 2013 – March 31 2014), the publisher has confirmed that their most recent deal with Disney doesn’t mean that a Star Wars game will be out this year.

Speaking on their post-earnings financial call, EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen said that there will be no EA published Star Wars titles available at retail until after March 31, 2014.

Whether you were for or against it, it was revealed yesterday that EA will now be publishing all “core” Star Wars titles. DICE and Visceral Games were both mentioned by EA Labels President Frank Gibeau as developers that will work with the license, along with BioWare.

For Star Wars fans, this must be seen as good news. To rush out a Star Wars game after the Disney deal would likely make EA quite a lot of money, but cashing in on this buzz would only lead to a game that would more than likely suffer because of a short cycle.

But, what do you think? Gutted that you’ll have to wait longer than you might have thought? Let us know in the comments section, below.
