Eurogamer sources have informed them that Microsoft aren’t charging developers for patches on Xbox 360.
With regard updates via Xbox Live, Microsoft has received some flack due to the fact that they charged developers a fee that could, on occasion, reportedly be $10,000+.
Studios were granted one free update post launch, but every subsequent patch was said to cost developers astronomical amounts of cash. Eurogamer were told that this change for Microsoft came earlier this year, but was done quietly.
This supposed change brings Microsoft’s platform closer to the Valve and Sony way of thinking. Here’s hoping that this turns out to be true and makes XBLA a more attractive avenue for smaller studios, once again.
