UK Charts – Grid 2 Holds On To Pole Position
Grid 2 has raced to the top of the UK sales charts for the second week running, despite the Codemasters game suffering a huge drop-off from week one sales. It manages to fight off competition from both new entries and older titles which are surging back up through the pack.
The impressive Remember Me manages to take the bronze medal in third place – which is respectable for a new IP which didn’t receive the marketing hype that the usual gaming behemoths benefit from. The Legendary Edition re-release of Skyrim – coupled with another cut-price offer on FarCry 3 – pushes Dead Island Riptide down into sixth, after it enjoyed a healthy three weeks at the top of the charts previously.
Sadly, Metro: Last Light and Resident Evil: Revelations have both suffered severe sales drop-offs after impressive first weeks, whereas Luigi’s Mansion 2 – which had a really slow start at retail – is beginning to deservedly climb the charts, albeit slowly. It will be interesting to see how all of the hype from E3 will effect sales next week – perhaps reviving interest in older games – and we also have the release of The Last of Us to look forward to.
