New Cinematic Trailer For Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

by on July 5, 2013

We got to see quite a lot of in-game footage from Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII at E3, with the press getting an extended hands-on as the game was playable at the Square Enix booth at the Los Angeles Convention Centre.

Well right now in Paris, the Japan Expo 2013 is running, and that has given Square Enix another opportunity to show off the game. This time, the trailer that has been released today is purely CGI cutscenes, giving gamers an idea of the drama and excitement to expect from this latest title in the series.

Some new features that we see in this trailer, that haven’t been seen before are:

– The appearance of familiar character Hope. As Lightning’s trusted partner, Hope provides key information throughout the quest. Mysteriously, Hope is no longer a grown man, but has instead turned back into the boy that Lightning first met.

– The reveal of new location The Ark. Hope guides Lightning in her endeavours from this space, within which time has ceased to pass.

– A surprise in the form of series character Fang! She is the leader of a mysterious bandit group residing in The Dead Dunes.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII isn’t due for release until February 14th next year, but Square Enix are certainly pushing ahead with the hype machine for the game nice and early. Players will be happy to see popular character Lightning back for another game – but fans will have to wait quite a lot longer to get their hands on the title.
