The LEGO Movie Videogame Announced

by on July 17, 2013

Warner Bros and Travellers Tales are partnering once again to bring a movie into LEGO videogame form. This time it’s the highly appropriate LEGO Movie.

The game will follow the same story as the movie, casting players as Emmet, a regular LEGO minifigurine tasked with saving the entire LEGO world.

An emphasis seems to be placed on the term ‘virtual builders’, so perhaps some sort of advanced construction will spice up the typical LEGO shenanigans? Here’s the official spliel:

In The LEGO® Movie Videogame players will be able to collect and use LEGO instruction pages to build construction sets or harness the awesome power of the Master Builders to virtually build extraordinary LEGO creations along the way.  With more than 90 characters inspired by the film and 15 exciting levels, kids can build and adventure like never before.

As of right now we only really have the Movie trailer to go off, really. Said trailer incorporates DC characters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles alongside other original characters, so hopefully they will all appear in the game too. They already made the models for LEGO Batman, so why the heck not?

The game will, in typical LEGO fashion, be released on everything, next-gen included. that means an Xbone and PS4 version as well as an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS and Vita version. All releasing next year alongside the film.

To whet your appetite, here’s that movie trailer.
