Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to Replace Don Mattrick as Head of Xbox Business
It was announced yesterday that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will directly oversee the firm’s XBox business in the wake of Don Mattricks departure for Zynga. CVG reports an internal email, coming directly from Microsoft’s official channels, advises Mattrick’s former subordinates to report directly to Ballmer.
It’s unclear at this time if this is a permanent arrangement, as it was only yesterday confirmed that Mattrick was headed for Zynga. Both companies have suffered recently with Zynga announcing closures and layoffs last month and Microsoft’s Xbox One DRM fiasco
With the November launch of Xbox One looming closer and closer, it will be interesting to see how this managerial shake-up will impact.
